(Over the last decade, volume rendering has become an invaluable visualization technique for a wide variety of applications. In this paper, we discuss modern, hardware-accelerated methods for the visualization of volume datasets: ray casting, texture slicing, shear-warp and shear-image rendering, and splatting.)Other Sources
