Abstract: Scanning tunneling microscopy experiments in a high-temperature superconductor probe the temperature evolution of local electronic states, revealing that regions in the sample exhibiting weak superconductivity can persist to elevated temperatures if they are surrounded by regions of strong superconductivity.
