I am an Australian PhD candidate researching trans-Pacific exchange of plants between California and Victoria (Australia) as a result of the gold rushes in both places in the late 1840s and early 1850s. I am particularly charting plant exchange by looking at the role of the U.S and Australian scientists and scientific institutions and the networks they formed.
