I am a retired veterinarian who has been in a rural mixed practice. I have observed a wide range of husbandry situations for food animals.
I am not sure exactly where I am going with this next, but I'm sure there is room for improvement as this article suggests, and with your permission I might use it to approach the Animal Welfare committee of the AVMA.
