AbstractThis thesis investigates "voice mismatch verbs" (deponents), verbs that take non-active morphology but are used in syntactically active environments. The focus is on the non-informant Indo-European languages Hittite, Vedic Sanskrit, Ancient Greek, and Latin, supplemented by data from Modern Greek.
