A Mirror for Statesmen: Leonardo Bruni's History of the Florentine People
CitationHankins, James. A mirror for statesmen: Leonardo Bruni's history of the Florentine people. Unpublished paper, Harvard University.
AbstractThe History of the Florentine People (1415-1442) is an important but neglected locus of Leonardo Bruni's political thought. Close study of the work shows that Bruni's way of thinking about politics is in some respects much closer to Machiavelli than it is to Aristotle.
