I show that studies of chimpanzees conducted since Demonic Males was published (in 1996) have amply supported the claim that coalitionary killing is an important feature of chimpanzee life. It therefore demands to be explained. The theory developed in Demonic Males remains useful, and can help in the development of nonviolent strategies.en-USJournal Article2011-05-20
