It briefly reviews the Civil Rights Movement (CRM) in the 1960’s, examining contrasts and similarities with the Black Lives Matter Movement (BLMM) and Movement for Black Lives (M4BL) BLMM and M4BLtoday to seek an understanding of the different types of protests, what has been successful and what has not while considering future actions to achieve positive outcomes. The study further explores demographics within today’s movements, and the role of women and the LGTBQ+ community, as well as how this growing diversity impacts the success of such movements.
