The Role of Autophagy in Regulatory T Cell Function and Homoeostasis
    (2017-02-23) Algassim, Abdul; Chatial, Talal
T regulatory cells are crucial for the induction of tolerance. Autophagy is a dynamic process that cells resort to in case of stress and starvation. Here, we elucidated some of phenotypic changes in autophagy among LRBA deficient subjects suffering from regulatory T cell pathology. From there we decided to study role of Autophagy in physiological conditions and we deleted three key enzymes in the Autophagy pathway, namely Vps34, Stk3 and Stk4. This deletion was specific in T regulatory cell utilizing Foxp3YFPcre system and crossing them with flexed genes above. Our result shows that loss of Autophagy in Regulatory T cells result in severe Autoimmunity.
