Publication Finding Better Methods for Manufacturing High-Stress Systems: An Investigation in Guitar Making
(2015-06-26) Vasquez Lopez, EdgarLaminated composites have been integrated into the structural framework of some folding robots in order to simplify the fabrication technique of those robots. The laminates are useful building blocks particularly because they readily produce a hinged/linked component without needing complicated binding elements. This is promising because it indicates simplicity, which often has a positive correlation with inexpensive and less time-consuming manufacturing methodologies. By way of example, the high-stress system of a guitar body has been fabricated using mainly laminated composites and interference fits. There are little to no bonding elements, and therefore the guitar reflects structural integrity as a product of structural design rather than glue and nuts and bolts.
