The Annual World Bank Conference on Development Economics is a global gathering of scholars and practitioners of development policy including participants from government, private sector, and academia. The 12th annual conference, held in April 2000, focused mainly on four areas: new development thinking, crises and recovery, corporate governance and restructuring, and social security including public and private savings.
