Abstract

This project shows how a core Christian theological concept from the New Testament, baptism, can be read through the theological understanding of the symbolism of water from the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament). The symbolism of water from the patterns of uncreation – recreation, destruction and salvation that started in creation in the Book of Genesis and keeps going throughout the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) has a deep influence on the theology of baptism in the New Testament.
