Abstract

N-Boc-alpha-amino ketones are synthesized efficiently and in high enantiomeric excess by the addition of organolithium and Grignard reagents to pseudoephedrine amides of N-Boc-alpha-amino acids, themselves available by the alkylation of pseudoephedrine glycinamide followed by N-protection.
