This article is explores the ethics of artistic persona with reference to black studies and religious studies materials. It considers the ways that artists can create personas that aid in bringing them closer to their intended audience. It investigates lessons of self-knowledge and identity formation that music can impart, particularly in relation to Afro-Diasporic identities.
