Abstract
This thesis includes the first two chapters of a generational horror novel in progress that draws inspiration heavily from Slavic folklore and fairy tales as well as from Friedrich Nietzsche’s Thus Spoke Zarathustra: A Book for All and None (1883). Using the conventions of literary and cinematic body horror, the novel attempts to find the horrific in the everyday discomforts that come from living in a mortal vessel composed of flesh and blood. The novel also aims to effectively convey dueling narratives through first, second, and third person narrators. Ultimately, the novel will be accompanied by a series of illustrations, but only the text itself is present here.
