Abstract

After losing her parents in a fire, twelve-year-old Deidre Dashwood is sent to live with her grandfather in Ireland. When she discovers ancient book full of words of power, Deidre tries using it to bring her parents back. Instead, she accidentally unleashes an ancient power upon the world which banishes her grandfather and could destroy humanity. With her grandfather now missing, and the book stolen by an evil sorceress, Deidre and the neighbor boy Brendan join the mysterious and untrustworthy Mr. Wylde to track down the sorceress, retrieve the book, and fix Deidre’s mistake, before the world is destroyed.
