Abstract

This paper is an exploration of attachment: how we learn to hold and be held, to know God and to know each other. In short vignettes, the author explores themes of ritual, relationship, and mourning. Combining personal stories with academic theory, she considers how the actions we take with our bodies allow us to form attachments with others, both human and divine. This work suggests that, through whole-body participation in these relationships, we can heal disordered attachment and restore our vitality.
