Abstract
This thesis has three essays which study topics in industrial organization. The first and third essays are empirical studies which study the intersection of industrial organization, urban, and transportation economics through the lens of the trucking freight market. The second essay is a theoretical study of the intersection of industrial organization and finance. The common theme is applying classic industrial organization ideas to help us understand new markets, and especially markets with rich product characteristics in space.
