Abstract

Abstract

This thesis consists of the first thirteen chapters of my novel Search, a suspense filled journey through the mountains of Europe in search of a killer.

Edie Cross is smart, resourceful, and wildly successful. She has rules. One of those rules is that her rare one-night stands, aka therapy, are just that. No further contact. That rule has always held until she and her search and rescue dog, Zo, stumble onto the scene of a murder on an early morning run. The victim is the man Edie slept with last night.

Search begins in Chamonix, France, where Edie and Zo have been part of the body recovery after a massive landslide. It’s been a rough week. And it’s about to get worse. Because it soon becomes clear this murder is a personal vendetta against Edie.

When Edie’s ex-fiancé is set up to take the fall, Edie and Zo form an unlikely alliance with Jacque, the chief of police, and Gabriel, a man Edie thought she’d never see again but can’t seem to forget. A second murder happens in a mountain town in Austria—where Edie and Zo participated in a rescue eighteen months before—and the four of them are thrust into a race against time before the body count rises.

As Edie fits the pieces together, she questions who she can trust. Soon, the patchwork crime-fighting team is on a plane to Norway, where Edie will have to confront her past to save the killer’s next target: Gabriel.
