I am a translator who believes in research and the transcreation of texts, rather than one-to-one 'dictionary translation' or simply going with what I think might be the right word / phrase / expression. This often leads to 'discussions' (putting it mildly) with end users who believe that they 'know' English and are only too ready to dispute my use of 'living English' and a genuinely appropriate rendition because, for instance, an open-source, online dictionary says something different. A Harvard publication is obviously a first-class source for verifying what I want to write and if I'm called upon to ''defend' it later, then citing a Harvard publication as one of my sources tends to carry the day.
