I am a former first-generation, low-income college student and I currently work with first-generation, low-income high school students to help improve their access to postsecondary opportunities. Many of my students have simply not known that their identities (and the associated struggles) are "worth" studying in an academic sense, so I enjoy sharing interesting research that is relevant to their goals and identities with them. They love it and we are so grateful for DASH!
