I am an economic and financial translator. I frequently need to access articles to learn more about the topic of the document I am translating or to check a citation for the correct wording. Since the subject matter of the materials I translate ranges extremely widely, subscribing to all the different priced journals and databases I find on-line would be prohibitively expensive. I very much appreciate the institutions and organizations that offer academic articles free of charge.
