I'm a trainee teacher in the UK. I will be teaching 11-19 year olds in mathematics. I'm also a governor at a primary school. Having access to this research will help me to improve my own teaching, as well as making informed choices about how the mathematics scheme of work should be developed at primary school. I believe all children should be helped to learn 'algebraic thinking', rather than algorithms and procedures to pass a test, as I believe algebraic thinking is a key life skill that should be one of the main aims of teaching algebra.
