Open Access literature was absolutely vital to my research project on the impact of new technologies on democracy. The research pertains to many audiences who would almost certainly not be able to afford access to paid journals. By relying on open access research, all of my readers will be able to trace information back to cited sources, rather than just my readers who are currently attending university.
