I am a teacher who works with others teachers on teaching. I am also a fellow at Stanford, and in attempting to generate "authentic questions" in their suggested mode to support interpretation of literature, I am using this essay, or a portion of it, with another teacher and her students to demonstrate that people really do argue about literature and that it's that arguing which helps us figure out ourselves and our world.
