Abstract
The Sultana of Aramaq is a secondary world, fantasy adventure novel. The novel follows five point-of-view characters during a politically turbulent time in the city of Aramaq, a desert city built around a single water source. The Sultan is on his deathbed. His daughter is the heir to the Sultanate. But revolution brews in the outer rings. The Legion of Aramaq seeks to stop it, but only so they can seize power instead. This is a fifty-two page excerpt that follows the character arc of Hana as she navigates the revolution. The novel explores themes of resource scarcity, class differences and class mobility, and the moral complexities of right and wrong. Hana’s character arc further questions what makes a good leader, the costs of revolution, and how compromise can offer a way forward.
